Weekend Playlist- By NH7

Design and Music have had a pretty intriguing and interesting relationship over the years, with both often blurring the lines in-between. Over the next few months, Kyoorius and Only Much Louder (OML- the leading supporters of independent music scene in India, organisers of the largest music festival in India, Bacardi NH7 Weekender) are going to explore this relationship and these blurred lines.

Well, now that we have told you about the heavy stuff, here is something absolutely light and fantastic and the most perfect way to start your weekend and our new series- Team NH7 creates an exclusive playlist for Kyoorius’ readers. So put those headphones or speakers on and enjoy the weekend.

Chvrches – ‘Gun’

Scottish electro-pop band Chvrches are out with their new album this July and ‘Gun’ features on the album. The song’s music summery dance music juxtaposes itself very well with the serious lyrical content to create a great experience.

Chairlift – ‘Met Before’

This is a song about feeling like you’ve met someone before even though maybe you haven’t really met them before. It’s got great lush instrumentation and is a definite dance track with some orchestral pop elements.

Disclosure – ‘When A Fire Starts To Burn’

This is a banging track from one of Britain’s best electronic music producers right now. It is incredibly dance-friendly and the video is just amazing.

Jagwar Ma – ‘Let Her Go’

Jagwar Ma are the latest cool thing from Australia. Their brand of sunny, melodic pop rock has been taking over the blogosphere very soon and is ‘Let Her Go’ is one of the best songs on the album.

Vampire Weekend – ‘Obvious Bicycle’

Vampire Weekend are back with a new album that is an interesting progression from their earlier material. The writing has become darker and yet the music retains its sunny disposition creating memorable melodies that will stay in your head for a long long time.

The Lightyears Explode – ‘Kunj Gutka’ (Click here)

The Lightyears Explode have released one of the most explosive Indian records this year. Apart from being a great track, ‘Kunj Gutka’ may have been a track that you heard on the soundtrack of Bejoy Nambiar’s latest film David.

Arctic Monkeys – ‘Do I Wanna Know’

The fact that the Arctic Monkeys are releasing a new record is awesome. The fact that they kind of sound like Queens Of the Stone Age while retaining their own sound is also pretty awesome. AM is definitely going to be one of the most interesting albums out this year,

Daft Punk – ‘Lose Yourself To Dance’

Daft Punk may or may not be your favourite artist but they sure know how to create a great groove (with the help of Chic’s Nile Rodgers and Pharrell Williams). ‘Lose Yourself To Dance’ is definitely the catchiest, grooviest track from their new album. Listen to it and do exactly what it says.

Kanye West – ‘Black Skinhead’

Kanye’s Yeezus is definitely considered one of the best albums out this year. It isn’t disappointing and ‘Black Skinhead’ is a banging track off the album. Check out the Saturday Night Live performance of the song as well.

Austra – ‘Home’

Canadian dance-pop band Austra have just released a new album and it mixes generous sampling and heavy string arrangements to compliment lead singer  Kate Stelmanis’ voice and create a great, layered retro-ish atmosphere.
