The Malayalam Project

The Kochi Muziris Biennale is in full swing by now and we’ve seen a number of parallel events and exhibitions come up since it kicked off in December. We also love how many of these offshoots are embracing and encouraging Kerala culture to the international mix of Biennale visitors. One example is the Malayalam Project, a Malayalam Typography and Graphic Design Exhibition initiated by Thought Factory Design & Via Kerala. It is a curated exhibit that brings together a linguistics study of the Malayalam script through examples of written works in the past century along with modern artistic interpretations of Malayalam words. There is an in-house Research and Design Team involved, along with almost 50 artists who work in the Malayalam landscape, using letterform and language.

This Saturday, the Project will be hosting an open house, inviting all the artists who have collaborated to the venue. Artists will be able to interact with visitors, and conduct some on site collaborations. If you’re in Kochi over the weekend, drop by for a dose of typographic inspiration.

Date & Time 31st January, 2015, between 9 AM to 8 PM
Venue Malayalam Project, 292B, Lilly Street, near Parade Ground, Fort Kochi
