Maker’s Asylum makes it to Delhi

by Anusha Narayanan

Maker Culture seems to be slowly taking over the country. Mumbai’s Maker’s Asylum opens in Delhi this month to give impetus to the movement in the capital city. Maker’s Asylum is a community space for all kinds of people to come together and get their hands dirty while making ideas happen. Founded by Vaibhav Chabbra and Anool Mahidharia, Maker’s Asylum started in a garage in Bandra and now has its own space in ISDI Parsons, One IndiaBulls Center in Parel.

In Delhi, Maker’s Asylum will be located in Hauz Rani in South Delhi, known for being populated by many designers, artisans and craftsmen. And they’re all set to open the space up to the people on June 20, 2015.

Vaibhav told us the team has been painting walls, finishing up the interiors, and making lighting fixtures and furniture that’ll fit into their Hauz Rani space. Here’s a sneak peek …

From 3D-printing to origami and making drones, you can explore whatever you want to build here – the basic tools and equipment are provided by Maker’s Asylum and what you build is all yours. That sounds fun, doesn’t it?

There is a list of events that you can sign up for with Maker’s Asylum Mumbai here. We recommend that you don’t miss their 3D Printing Workshop (25 June – 3 July) and the Laser Cutter Tool Training Session, (10 June – 22 July).

You can also spend some fun time with your dad on Father’s Day at the Father’s Day Special: Memory on Lithophane workshop; make a special little gift for him and some memories.
