With each passing year, the design and Designyatra community grows bigger, more diverse and younger too (and that excites us about the creative culture in India – creative jobs are “cooler”!). Nothing substitutes the feeling of support that we have been shown by Kyoorius’ readers, delegates and supporters through these years.
The 11th edition of Kyoorius Designyatra, #KDY, is meant to provoke this community of creatives. The doers and thinkers and catalyst. Ask us all, what’s the point of all our work, if it doesn’t fulfil a greater meaning for ourselves and the world. Some would say it’s a bit ambitious, but we’re sure you’ll leave thinking more critically and inspired.
Dates: 29 Sep – 01 Oct. 2016
Venue: Fairmont, Jaipur
Theme: Why am I here?
New Location. New City.
Since 2006, Kyoorius has championed the creative community in India through programmes that inform, inspire and stimulate. In 2015, we celebrated 10 years of KDY at Goa, with the question “What pumps your heart?”. It would only be fair to bring some change to KDY itself and hence a New Location. A new venue. Newer dreams to realise and content to explore.
The pink city of Jaipur waits for us, as for 3 days, Fairmont Jaipur transforms into a nucleus of creative culture, both Indian and international.
Why am I here?
The theme for Designyatra 2016 comes from the questions we’ve been trying to answer for 10 years. Questions of relevance, context, inspiration, impact and making real change out there in the real world beyond the conference itself. This year, we’ve merged Digiyatra and Designyatra to acknowledge the evolution of humans and design: nothing really is analogue and digital anymore; we experience everything together and therefore, the boundaries have disappeared between digital and physical.
The broader theme of Kyoorius Designyatra questions…
Are we here to just design some books, logos and posters?
Or write kick-ass scripts and shoot cool films, or win pencils and lions?
To have fun being creative, to chase passions and dream dreams or just to make ends meet?
Is there something more to this? What is the point?
